FSBO: A study conducted in Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) found median price of a home sold represented by a licensed Real Estate Agent brought $45,000 more than a home sold by owner.

Florida still holds the title as the hottest Real Estate market in the Southeast for
home prices, soaring nearly 27 percent last year, according to an
analysis report issued by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The
median price for a home in Florida rose by a record rate of $56,000
in 2005. Leading the pack was Naples at $113,000 in appreciation
last year. The overall report also shows healthy job creation across
the region. Florida is generating jobs at the fifth-fastest rate in the
nation and tops in the Southeast. Construction, retail and temporary
jobs are multiplying the most, creating pockets of worker shortages
in southwestern parts of the state. As a result, the state has the
third-best unemployment rate in the United States.

COMMERCIAL INSURANCE

Commercial properties could get their own state-run "insurer of last
resort." Gov. Jeb Bush on Wednesday told regulators to begin crafting
a state-run pool to provide the coverage -- possibly modeled after

private insurers.

REAL ESTATE COMPETITION

During a hearing on real estate competition and the impact of the
Internet, a U.S. House panel yesterday appeared largely unconvinced
by charges of anti-competitive behavior against Internet-based discount
brokerages and skeptical of calls for federal intervention. NAR
President-elect Pat Vredevoogd Combs noted that more types of
business models are represented in real estate markets today than ever
before.

WHAT ARE THEY THINKING ..?

According to the most recent annual Harris Poll measuring public
perceptions of 23 professions and occupations, real estate brokers
are seen as having the least prestigious profession, coming in dead
last in the rankings (6 percent). Seen as the most prestigious
occupations, according to the poll? Firefighters (63 percent), doctors
(58 percent), nurses (55 percent), scientists (54 percent) and teachers
(52 percent). Other professions at the opposite end of the spectrum
included stockbrokers and business executives (tied for second least
prestigious profession at 11 percent); and actors and union leaders
(also tied, at 12 percent). The Harris Poll was conducted by telephone
between July 5 and 11, 2006, by Harris Interactive among a nationwide
sample of 1,020 U.S. adults. Harris Interactive has been asking about
the prestige of different professions and occupations since 1977.
